Listen to Brooklyn percussion trio TIGUE's latest single "Mouth"

Featuring Ira Kaplan and James McNew of Yo La Tengo

Music and driving. They pair so well, an entire genre practically owes it origins to the act of cruising with the volume cranked. It takes the right music, though, to slip into that transcendent state of auto-Zen — getting so immersed in a song you kinda forget you’re encased in a two-ton hunk of metal hurling down the highway.

And, that’s what “Mouth” sets out to achieve. The latest single from Brooklyn “powerhouse percussion trio” TIGUE, this 5-minute instrumental walks (or drives?) the fine line between repetitive and hypnotizing with just enough tension to keep things interesting. Percussive clacks and thuds bounce off jangly guitar strums at the hands of Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan and James McNew. Quiet moments anxiously swell into full-out attacks with an overall vibe that practically begs you to gun your Delorean mom’s Camry to 88.

TIGUE's first full-length album Peaks comes out on November 13. Pre-order it here and listen to “Mouth” below.
