It's been a solid four years since Tampa Bay got a visit from Japandroids, but now we've got reason to believe it won't be much longer until their return. The Vancouver duo played a few hometown shows recently, and today they released a new song, "Near To The Wild Heart Of Life."
REVIEW: JAPANDROIDS BRING CELEBRATION ROCK TO CROWBAR 11.28.12
The familiarly triumphant, five-minute cut is the title track from a new album, set for release on January 27 via Anti- Records. A press release says the eight-track effort was written over the last few years in Vancouver, Toronto, New Orleans, and Mexico City. Jesse Gander — who recorded Japandroids' Post-Nothing and Celebration Rock — recorded most of the new album, and the tracks are sequenced specifically for the LP.
Listen to that jam below, and call your local record store to see if they'll be carrying it on release day.
