In the cover story of today's Creative Loafing, we talk to Tampa songwriter and scene staple Will Quinlan about what he's been up to since releasing a haunting LP, Navasota, six years ago.
He reveals that he's actually working on four new LPs of music with a veritable barn full of Tampa's best musicians and producers. One of those albums is a solo effort, titled Articles of Redemption.
In our story, Quinlan says the album is "65 to 75 percent done."
The latest mix of one of Articles' tracks — "Resurrection Blues" — is available for listening below. It features Rec Center frontwoman Susie Ulrey singing harmony along with Francis French III, who also provided high harmony vocals on Navasota. Tampa multi-instrumentalist Andy Feldman, a player on a multitude of Bay area classics including Have Gun, Will Travel’s most recent album, Science From An Easy Chair. Have Gun frontman Matt Burke even plays banjo on the track, all while drummer Max Norton lays down beats.
