Live music tonight: Gold Panda hits Crowbar with indie dance beats

To friends and family, he’s Derwin Schlecker. The rest of the world knows him as British-born, Berlin-based Ghostly International producer Gold Panda. In the electro-tripping, glitchy mix of UK garage, post-dubstep and witch house on his 2013 sophomore LP, Half of Where You Live, he pieces together or skips and skews seemingly disparate samples, found sounds and instrumental snippets with exotic worldly flavor, and sets the results against synth atmospherics and pounding percussive-washed-and-studded dance beats.

He's making a rare appearance in Florida tonight, right in Ybor City, at Crowbar. Tickets are $15. Show starts at 9:30 p.m. Also performing is Kodak to Graph and Spies on Bikes, both indietronic acts worthy of some of their own buzz. Check out some audio by Gold Panda after the jump...
