Lost Dog Street Band + Mama’s Broke play The Amsterdam tonight

Enjoy some free Americana in St. Pete for St. Paddy's Day.

Self-styled purveyors of “lowdown country storytelling” Lost Dog Street Band hails from Tennessee and crafts backwoods Americana fueled by the banjo and acoustic guitar work of singer-songwriter Benjamin Tod, whose ragged brassy vocals pair well with the wailing fiddle melodies of bandmate Ashley Mae. Joining them for this free Hump Day billing is Nova Scotia folk duo Mama’s Broke, members Lisa Maria and Amy Lou pitting honeyed vocal harmonies against bowed, strummed and plucked fiddle, mandolin, guitar and banjo.

Both bands play 9 p.m. tonight (Thurs., March 17) , with warm-up from locals J.T. Brownn, Chant the Trees and Mountain Holler, at The Amsterdam in St. Petersburg (admission to this show is free).
