In an interview with Creative Loafing Tampa, funk and disco God Nile Rodgers said that he exists to make the people happy.

"Chic shows are designed to make the audience family and feel like one, big, happy family," he said, adding that he and Chic may actually open with something the band has yet to try in America.

"We want to try new things. We're real musicians. We're not locked to any dance or choreography, click tracks or anything like that," Rodgers, 66, added. "We just play, and we do anything that we want to do. We have that freedom."

Well, it just got a little more affordable to see all that go down in St. Petersburg on Friday, January 18. The offer expires at midnight on Friday, but Mahaffey Theater is offering select, $20 tickets to the show. The offer isn't valid for seats in the orchestra section or "Golden Circle" area in front of the stage, but seats in the venue's loge, "Dress Circle" seating and balcony are pretty damn good.

The offer is not good for previous purchases, and may not be combined with other offers. Yes, some ticketing fees may apply. A call to the venue's concierge will be required if you require personalized service in selecting seats, but a trip to themahaffey.com is pretty simple, too. Nile Rodgers & Chic. Fri. Jan. 18, 8 p.m. $39.50-99.50. Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S., St. Petersburg. themahaffey.com.
