Smiths fans hoping to see loudmouth frontman Morrissey at his solo show in St. Petersburg on Friday are probably not surprised by this news—but they’ll have to wait until next year.

The U.K. songwriter’s Mahaffey Theater concert was postponed to Jan. 20, 2026 with no reason given. Two earlier tour dates were postponed when the singer was reportedly hospitalized for “a severe sinusitis attack,” but resumed May 5.

The postponement is on brand for Mo. A listing of “Every date that Morrissey has ever cancelled” says he’s canceled, postponed, or played abbreviated sets for nine of 35 dates this year alone.

Hopefully by next year he’ll release the long-awaited album Without Music The World Dies.

The 65-year-old kept his name in the news during the latter half of last year, when word spread that he rejected Johnny Marr’s offer to do a Smiths reunion (Marr says it was actually vice versa).

We’re not holding our breaths to see the two hit the stage together anytime soon, which is why this career retrospective at the historic St. Pete room—which turned 60 earlier this month—shouldn’t have been taken for granted. But then again, if Oasis can make peace, anyone can (though world peace is none of our business).
