Metro Inclusive Health (the second-largest LGBTQ+ Center in the U.S.) has tapped Grammy-nominated singer Deborah Cox to play its Annual Cocktail Party on November 9.
The mission of the cocktail event is to mix, mingle, raise funds and raise awareness for hurdles the LGBTQ community faces as its members try to lead the same normal lives their neighbors do.
“As one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States, demand for community programs has continued to grow,” Metro CEO Lorraine Langlois said in a recent statement.
“We serve a vital need in fulfilling that sense of community among our seniors as well helping the youngest of our LGBTQ+ community deal with the challenges of coming out, often within conservative households.”
Metro kicked it up a notch by asking Cox to headline the 2019 party, which happens from 7 p.m.-11 p.m. inside the Grand Hall of Metro's newly renovated 47,000-square-foot headquarters located at 3251 3rd Ave. N. in St. Petersburg.
Cox, known for her LGBTQ anthem "Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here" has 13 No. 1 Billboard Dance chart hits, a resume riddled with theater performances including The Bodyguard and Aida, as well as a slew of industry awards and nominations. She'll play a 30-minute set as part of her appearance.
Tickets for the cocktail party start at $60, and "Program Producer" ticket get you an exclusive meet and greet photo opportunity as well as preferred seating for her performance. More information is at metroinclusivehealth.org.
