Notable Moments of Women in Music: a book tribute to female musicians

Notable Moments of Women in Music
JAY WARNER

(Hal Leonard)

This comprehensive timeline of female musicians' accomplishments kicks off in the 1870s and runs straight through to 2008 with an entry about Sony Pictures releasing "the eventual horror cult-classic Zombie Strippers, starring the outrageous British punk-rocker Roxy Saint alongside sex star Jenna Jameson." Not sure how author Jay Warner figured this on being a "cult-classic" — um, the verdict is still out — but at least it serves as a fun prediction. Too many entries are as about as riveting as this: "Bassist Kelley Deal of the Pixies was arrested for possession of heroin." 3 stars
