Magic Slim is considered one of the greatest living Chicago blues musicians of our times. It was quite a treat to see and hear him play at Whiskey Joe's this past weekend. To top it off, he closed his set with one of my all time favorite blues songs, Freddy King's "Hideaway," responsible for making me a lifelong Eric Clapton fan. Clapton had covered "Hideaway" early in his stellar career on the iconic 1966 album, Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton.
