On Tuesday night, Chicago instrumental heros Tortoise finally played a show in Tampa, Florida (by all accounts, the band have not landed in city limits during the course of their 27 year existence). In our review of the show, we said:
...casual fans who don’t have Facebook may not have been aware that Tortoise guitarist Jeff Parker would be absent due to a family emergency. Filling in was multi-instrumentalist Jim Elkington. The Chicago scene mainstay (The Zincs, Tweedy, Steve Gunn) more than held his own as Tortoise navigated their storied, 23 year old, nine piece discography for an enthusiastic audience who were, by many accounts, a little chatty, too.
