The Fest 17 is set to take over Gainesville, Florida from October 26-28, and while Ybor City's Pre-Fest 6 lineup doesn't feature Fest 17 acts like Lagwagon and Metz and Iron Chic, Cigar City is still getting one hell of smattering of bands that'll play various venues in the historic district from October 24-25.
On Monday, organizers announced more than two dozen bands for Pre-Fest 6 including Fest 17 headliners Cursive, Massachusetts hardcore-and-then-melodic punk outfit Piebald, Texas power-pop giants Radioactivity (featuring former Marked Men Jeff Burke and Mark Ryan) and Fest fan-favorite RVIVR. Baltimore rock outfit War On Women, Berkeley emo act Mom Jeans and Buffalo indie-pop band Lemuria add to a strong lineup of out-state acts.
Pre-Fest, of course, is an excellent mid-week option for Bay area folks who can't get away for the weekend. It's also an excuse for the Fest faithful to get two extra days of partying with friends on the books.
Only 1,000 passes for Pre-Fest 6 will be sold. Two-day passes go on sale April 12 and start at an early turd price of $65. That price will be available until July 1 (or until the initial allotment of early bird passes sell out). General sale price — if the passes haven't sold out — will cost $75 and then $85 if you wait until the festival starts.
Thefestfl.com has details on combo packages, and there are always killer volunteer opportunities (read the volunteer page!) for those who are willing to work and make new friends in exchange for a ticket to Pre-Fest 6 (or even Fest 17).
