The old Ybor City Resort & Spa caught fire — again.
UPDATE: TECO has restored power to the adjacent Rock Brothers Brewing tasting room, and they are open for business.
For the second time in a week, the Tampa Fire Department has been called out to respond to a blaze at the shuttered business located at 1512 E. 8th Ave. in Ybor City. Just like last week’s one-alarm fire, arson is suspected in this early morning blaze that created heavy smoke and flames at the two-story masonry building (via WTSP).
On March 11, investigators say a suspect or suspects got into the building and set several fires before leaving.

According to WFLA, fire officials said Saturday morning’s fire was tough to get to because of how close it is to other buildings, but the flames did not spread. The March 11 incident caused approximately $100,000 of damage to the building, but damage from last night’s three-alarm blaze has not yet been confirmed.
Kevin Lilly, who co-owns Rock Brothers Brewing next door, told CL that he is waiting to assess his building to see if any potential damage will keep his tasting room and venue from being open today. The next ticketed event at Rock Brothers’ 150 seat listening room above the tasting room is not until March 23.
This is a developing story. Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact the Fire Marshal's Office at (813) 274-7000.
