WMNF brings another Tropical Heatwave Revisited sort of bill to the Skipperdome.
The caustic, volatile Southern Gothic cavalcade of roots-punk that is Th' Legendary Shack Shakers has been at the top of our Must See Live list ever since its latest album, Believe, came out on Yep Rock about this time last year; your eyes will bug, your jaw will drop, and your ears will ring. (You might also get spit on by lead yowler Col. J.D. Wilkes if you're close to the stage, as well.)
Another group that garnered mucho praise for its Heatwave appearance is Jake Brennan & The Confidence Men, a killer, rough-hewn roots-rock outfit put together by the former frontman for very underground punk act Cast Iron Hike. And Kicking things off tonight is late addition (and perfect Halloween attraction) Unknown Hinson, a roots/country singer-songwriter with a yen for goofy B-horror onstage spectacle and sinister lyrical themes.
Th' Legendary Shack Shakers w/Jake Brennan & The Confidence Men/Unknown Hinson, Monday, Oct. 31 @ Skipper's Smokehouse, Tampa. 8 p.m.; $12 adv./$15 d.o.s.
