It’s been less than a year since Third Eye Blind played to its day ones and new fans during a Clearwater concert, but the 90s rock band is headed back to the Bay area just in time (not “10 Days Late”) to play a free show as part of the grand opening of the new Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park in downtown Tampa.
DEEP INSIDE OF US
Review: Third Eye Blind shows love to the day-ones, plays entire debut album at Clearwater’s Coachman Park
The city made the announcement today, adding that Third Eye Blind would play May 12. Also playing on May 12 are OG Tampa R&B singer C-Rena, the Distinguished Men of Brass ensemble, Three Sheets to the Wind and Skipper’s regulars Jah Movement. The second day of the two-day celebration will feature performances by The Florida Orchestra and U.S. Navy Band.
The grand opening weekend also happens to be the same day as the mayor’s Mac and Cheese Throwdown, but we don’t know if Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins will stick around so he can stand slack jawed admiring our curd.
A full schedule of Julian B. Lane grand opening activities is available via tampagov.net. See the main stage music schedule below. Click here if you’d like to volunteer to help out at the festival.
