Thanks to that TikTok video of Nathan Apodaca—aka @420doggface208 (pictured)—skateboarding while drinking Ocean Spray's Cran-Raspberry juice and lip syncing Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” the band is popular with a whole new generation. Need proof? In October, the 1977 song returned to the Billboard Charts at no. 21 with its best streaming and sales week ever.
And while most big name bands have postponed their tours as of late, you can still see the next best thing in the form of this “Tusk” tribute named after the Mac’s follow up to its most popular album, Rumours. The best—or most boring—part at Tusk’s Friday night show at the Cap there’ll be no dramatic lineup changes, no Neil Finn, and, hopefully, no pricey cocaine habits. You will, however, see the band’s hit songs performed at a much, much lower price than one can see Stevie Nicks and whoever she allows to be in the band at the moment.
Heads up, the venue will take your temperature at the door, require masks and enforce many other COVID-19 protocols.
Tusk: A Fleetwood Mac Tribute. Jan. 15, 8 p.m. $29 and up. Bilheimer Capitol Theatre, Clearwater. rutheckerdhall.com.
