Throughout a single year, Lindsey Buckingham got booted from Fleetwood Mac, had emergency open heart surgery, and, as a result of the surgery, temporarily lost his singing voice.
Slowly but surely, he’s been making his way back into the music biz as a solo artist (although, he did partake when the Mac’s “Dreams” was all over TikTok). In May 2019, he strummed out the chords “Landslide” with his daughter, LeeLee and her fellow high school graduates at their graduation ceremony. Buckingham also appeared alongside Cassandra Coleman on American Idol a few weeks back, duetting on “Go Your Own Way,” which featured his majestic guitar work and all.
Now that he’s established the fact that he is back, the heart and soul of the post-Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac (Pfft. Like you disagree.) is ready to take a giant step in his grand return. Today, he announced a new eponymous album, along with a 30-date tour that will see him and his solo band stop at Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall on September 27. This will be Buckingham’s first tour since he had the heart surgery that nearly ended his touring career, and his first time in Florida since a 2018 stop at the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre—then known as just the Capitol Theatre.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, and start at $49. A limited number of VIP soundcheck packages are available as well, and do not feature an official meet and greet opportunity.
Oh, and going back to that “heart and soul of Fleetwood Mac” comment, with all due respect to Mike Campbell and Neil Finn, Lindsey gives the band so much more zest when he’s strumming right next to Stevie Nicks. And mind you, I say that as a massive fan of Mike Campbell.
