Tampa Bay is starting to get spillover from St. Augustine’s Sing Out Loud Festival, and this Thursday show finds Philadelphia songwriter Dave Hause supporting a new album, Kick (released in April, with songs like “The Ditch” where he doubles down on the anti-Trump sentiment from a 2017 rocker, “Dirty Fucker,” while adding a bigtime power-pop hook and a subtle relfection on mental illness.

“Whether it’s the discomfort of wrestling with mental illness, or the realization that the whole world seems to have gone mad, this song is about committing to trying to survive the storm,” he said about the track. “If you can’t change the circumstances around you, sometimes the only thing left to do is to try to make a home out of the wreckage.”

Dave Hause & The Mermaid w/The Attack/The Tattered Saints. Thurs. Sept. 5, 8 p.m. $15-$18. Crowbar, Ybor City. brokenmoldentertainment.com.
