It’s the best of both worlds Friday night at Ella's when Winter Haven’s Skinny McGee and his Mayhem Makers play at the Seminole Heights restaurant—the retro tunes make you feel like you’re at a show in the ‘50s but luckily it's 2021 because, you know, social justice reform and smashing the patriarchy. The rockabilly trio sings Johnny Cash-esque. greased-up jailhouse numbers with vocal vibratos to boot.  Plus, an upright bass is sure to get your toes tapping at the free show—just ask a server before you start moving furniture around to make room to dance. And wear a mask.

Skinny McGee and his Mayhem Makers. Friday, Aug. 20, 9 p.m. Free. Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe, Tampa.
