St. Augustine singer-songwriter Kevin Mahoney, aka Kevin PM, could almost be The National’s Matt Berninger’s vocal twin. His music, driven by a vocal deep in emotion and range, spans genres (indie, folk, experimental) as well as decades (songs like “Look, Ma” could easily fit on a Nick Drake album).

But PM isn’t the only great indie band on this bill. Broom Closet’s stellar dreamy-garage-indie single, and accompanying video, “Tisket,Tasket,” like the rest of the trio’s self-titled debut album, has aged well since its release in 2016, and according to the band’s Instagram page there’s new stuff coming out this fall. Can’t wait.

Kevin PM w/Broom Closet. Friday, July 23, 8 p.m. $7-$10. New World Brewery, Tampa.
