While we’ve all been watching every episode of the “Great British Bake Off” in our PJs, St. Petersburg jazz trio La Lucha has been staying productive with things like scoring movie scenes and releasing a new album, Everybody Wants to Rule the World. The Tampa band is celebrating the new album—which is also their debut with the Clearwater’s long-running Arbors Records—with a half-capacity release party at the Palladium’s Hough Hall.

The album mixes new original works with reimagined covers of classics by, you guessed it, Tears for Fears and David Bowie. Their rendition of Patrick Swayze’s “She’s Like the Wind” alone fills all the empty holes inside of me. If the jazz trio wasn’t so good, their achievements would be annoying.

Sun. Nov. 8, 4 p.m. $25-$35, Hough Hall at the Palladium, St. Petersburg. mypalladium.org
