Dunedin Brewery’s annual Oktoberfest is always a mini-music festival, and this year’s festivities are anchored by an album release from St. Petersburg prog-funk outfit Ajeva, whose new, self-titled LP follows “The Captain”(voiced by Bay area MC Shadcore) through a world where humans have lost their way and ravaged the planet of all its resources (hold on, isn’t that, like, real life already?).

Songs like “The Crab Nebula Casino” take listeners to a black hole, and all of the intergalactic funk happens so the album’s protagonist can figure out their purpose and eventually preserve the planet for future generations. “Oktobeerfest” kicks off on Thursday, but make sure to be on site when Ajeva plays on Friday.

Listen to another Ajeva track, “Space Ducks,” below.

Oktobeerfest w/Ajeva/Mike Dillion Band/Row Jomah/Eric McFadden/Hurricane Party/Bleubird/more. Thurs. Oct. 3-Sun. Oct. 6. (Ajeva plays on Saturday). Dunedin Brewery, Dunedin. dunedinbrewery.com.
