✔️ Brainquility Pre-Party w/Zoogma/Bells and Robes/Side Trakd We’re still a week out from seeing the Brainquility Music & Arts Festival wook it out for Safety Harbor, but that’s not stopping MoonGoddess Entertainment from turning the vibes on early for a pre-party featuring Atlanta livetronica outfit Zoogma, which is bringing another Atlanta act (Bells and Robes). They’ll be joined by Gainesville producer Tyler Stofel (aka Side Trackd), who will be back in town for Brainquility one week later. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO

LUCKY US
Tampa Bay all-ages venues like Lucky You continue creating a sense of community

✔️ Lucky You Fest A two-day festival leaning on punk and metal kicks off at an all-ages space & tattoo shop. Read our feature story above get more info. (Lucky You Tattoo, St. Petersburg) INFO

Danielle Mohr Band A new staple in the WMNF rotation, Danielle Mohr brings her electronic-tinged blues to St. Pete as part of a seemingly never-ending mini-tour through her home state. While she and her band may have held back at an outdoor set for last weekend’s Safety Harbor Songfest, expect more from Mohr — when she plays cuts from her recently released Momentum EP — inside Ruby’s, which always gets rowdy on Saturdays. —Robb Ferdinand (Ruby’s Elixir, St. Petersburg) INFO

SHAE SONGS
Lucky to be here: Seminole Heights celebrates community with a music & arts fest

Dru Cutler w/Shae Krispinsky/Jeremy Gloff It’s been nearly a decade since songwriter, storyteller and son of a science teacher Dru Cutler lent his talents to Jeremy Gloff’s 21st Century Love Songs LP, and on Saturday the duo once again joins forces (and is joined by Shae Krispinsky) for a night of acoustic songs in this cozy Central Avenue community space. Expect Gloff to pull from his latest (Those Who Survived) and enjoy it when Cutler plays selections from new album Hometown, which he released last year. (Community Café, St. Petersburg) INFO

✔️ Nasty Savage w/Oblivion/Siren/Against My Will A mid-’80s Tampa outfit from the first generation of American thrash bands plays the latest location of one of Tampa’s original metal clubs. Nasty Savage is rightfully mentioned in the same sentence as Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer, and cuts from the band’s 1985 self-titled debut (tracked at legendary Tampa studio Morrisound Recording) can still leave that sweet, ringing feeling in your ears more than 20 years after its release. Legendary moments — remembering when in Tampa Bay music

✔️ Twisty Chris Birthday Sock Hop w/Twisty Chris & the Puddin’ Packs/Surfin’ Dead/Nerds Raging It’s his birthday party and although everyone knows Christopher Pack as Twisty Chris, he also dresses up as a dinosaur and plays drums for the robot-fronted punk band Nerds Raging. Surfin’ Dead takes a wave in from Sarasota for this show, and Holey Miss Moley’s miss Robyn Alleman will be singing lead vocals with Pack’s other band — Twisty Chris & the Puddin’ Packs — for a few songs. (Dunedin Brewery, Dunedin) INFO

✔️ Shurwood w/SPORK/Community Couch/GILT It took a few months, but emo has finally arrived at Blue Note. It comes at the hands of a CL favorite, Shurwood, which will be joined by a new Stove Johnson project (Community Couch) plus a new Tampa three-piece SPORK. GILT — a sangry (that’s “sad and sangry”) quartet from St. Augustine, makes the trip down I-75 to round out the bill. (The Blue Note, Tampa) INFO

✔️ Florida Orchestra Masterworks: Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 26 w/Elim Chan Louis Schwizgebel is giving a master class at the University of Tampa early in the afternoon on Saturday, but the Swiss-Chinese pianist joins the Florida Orchestra and award-winning conductor Elim Chan, a native of Hong Kong, for this performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 26, “Coronation.” Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 add some youthful vigor to the program, which also reaches back to the classical period and the music of Haydn. A Sunday matinee of this performance is available for those who miss the Saturday show, and more info is available via floridaorchestra.org. (Mahaffey Theater, St. Petersburg) INFO

The Annual WMNF Record and CD Sale In a bittersweet turn of events for record collectors and lovers of Tampa music, offerings at the annual record sale at community radio station WMNF 88.5 FM this year include the collection of late programmer and local musician Ray Villadonga, whose tastes knew no bounds. First come, first served at this wildly popular event. (WMNF Community Radio, Tampa) INFO

✔️ Fast Talkers w/DieAlps!/The Easy Button It was pretty cool to see new Fast Talkers drummer Dmeatree Stoianovich taking in a recent Sunday set from DieAlps! (a CL indie-rock fave which has a new member, Erin Robbins, on keys as well). Head out to The Bends for this free show if you’re also into the idea of local music-scene love.
