Suncoast Surf Shop 52nd Xmas Party w/The Mad Beach Band/Billy Prine/Tom Gribbin/Gale Trippsmith/Janie Richards/Urban Gypsies Most of us aren't (a) aware that there can be surf on the west coast of Florida and (b) that it was once illegal to surf here in the first place. That's the world Suncoast Surf Shop owner Joe Nuzzo was living in back in 1966 when he founded his now BOTB-winning shop. Surfing has since come into the mainstream (and Suncoast has even infiltrated the internet), but Nuzzo's giving spirit hasn't wavered. That's why the 75-year-old is asking attendees of the shop's 52nd anniversary concert to bring an unwrapped toy or $5 to get into the party. Music will be provided by tiki rockers Mad Beach Band plus songwriters Billy Prine, Tom Gribbin (of Saltwater Cowboys), Gale Trippsmith and Janie Richards. (Gator's Café, Treasure Island) INFO
