✔️ A-Trak w/YehMe2 A-Trak has already changed the face of hip-hop and electronic music by founding his label Fool’s Gold Records (oddball rappers Danny Brown and Kid Cudi have called the label home, along with producers like American EDM duo Flosstradamus). On Friday the 35-year-old Canadian-born Alain Macklovitch will do his best to uplift the moods of kiddos piled into The Ritz for the #Pound Friday party where YehMe2 (the new project of Flosstradamus’s Josh Young) opens the show. Florida Orchestra Presents Romeo and Juliet & West Side Story w/Håkan Hardenberger The Florida Orchestra’s Romeo and Juliet/West Side Story concerts are just a little late for the Valentine’s push, but love is forever. Trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger also makes a long-lasting impact on audiences, so expect the TFO faithful to pack this Tampa show when the Bo Nilsson-taught, horn-blowing Swede makes his Florida Orchestra debut at the Straz. Tchaikovsky and Bernstein are on the menu, and so is the premiere of five short celebratory fanfares written by faculty composers from universities around the state for the Florida Fanfare Project. Best Demonic Fever Dream — Pleasures Fucked Up Dreams Come True
✔️ Pleasures w/Deadborns/Someday River St. Pete psych-rock group Pleasures has a new album due sometime next month, but no one is going to be offended if the Katherine Kelly-led outfit plays some of it at this free brewery show where the band is also slated to play its excellent (and pleasantly disturbing) 2016 album, Fucked Up Dreams Come True, in its entirety. Drew Giordano’s Deadborns project and Orlando dream-pop outfit Someday River open the show. (Green Bench Brewing Co., Saint Petersburg) INFO
Tiny Moving Parts w/Mom Jeans/Oso Oso J Robbins (a genre-defining producer who has worked with Against Me!, Jimmy Eat World and The Promise Ring) helped emo-revivalist outfit Tiny Moving Parts record its sophomore album, Swell, which is due out later this year via Triple Crown Records. Look for the band to play some of it at this one, where California stoner-pop group Mom Jeans opens alongside Jade Lilitri who pays homage to early-aughts indie-rock and emo under the Oso Oso banner. (Crowbar, Ybor City) SOLD OUT
One City Chorus w/Urban Gypsies The open-hearted, civic-minded One City Chorus and the joyously funky Urban Gypsies are sure to make some beautiful music together at this St. Petersburg show inside of Palladium Theater’s beautiful Hough Hall. —David Warner (Hough Hall at Palladium Theater, St. Petersburg) INFO
