Bass By the Bay: Headbanger’s Ball Edition w/Odysee/Freekegan b2b Gypsy Massive/Tr33klimbr/Terribletimber/BXNES/Jawbrah Bassheads like snapping their own necks when DJs unleash big drops, and the rumble will sound even louder in the relatively small confines of Fubar, where promoters have booked a handful of wubby, dubby producers to throw down. Free pizza at midnight means you can get started on acquiring the munchies earlier than usual, too. (Fubar, St. Petersburg) INFO

✔️ Yonder Mountain String Band It’s about time for Yonder Mountain String Band’s annual wintertime Bay area tour stop, but expect banjo player Dave Johnston & Co. to have the band’s special brand of proggy bluegrass running hot at the gig, which is always one of Yonder’s first outdoor shows of the new year. If you’re unfamiliar with the band, then imagine the way a Grateful Dead or Allman Brothers set would feel if the guys all had banjo, mando fiddle and guitar onstage. BEST LOCAL ALBUMS 2017
Jinx lets JahSon rule the roost on third LP

WLCM2KNXVLL w/Haze Ala/Jinx/Kayo Da Beast/Young Locals/DJ Knex Hip-hop on the 727 side of the Bay, all thanks to promoters Left Lane Presents and DJ Knox who've tapped Tampa rapper Haze Ala to take the reins on a night that features Jinx (another Tampa rapper who released on of CL's favorite local albums of 2017), Philly-born/St. Pete-reppin' Kayo Da Beast and more. (The Bends, St. Petersburg) INFO

B-Street Band w/Vini "Mad Dog" Lopez Vini Lopez had his 69th birthday on Monday, and tonight the part-time Largo resident and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who backed Bruce Springsteen in several bands and albums between 1968-1975 (including the E Street Band and the Boss' first two albums, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle) brings his tribute act to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. (Hard Rock Cafe in Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa) INFO

Ces Cru w/The Palmer Squares Words will spill out onto the Crowbar stage on Thursday as Ubiquitous and Godemis — collectively known as Ces Cru — tag team their way through a set of hyper-lyrical hip-hop released under Tech N9ne’s misfit Strange Music label. The duo’s 2017 album — Catastrophic Event Specialists — is just about a year old now, so it’ll be interesting to see what kind of place it’s found in the Cru’s 13-year-old discography.
