We all go through it with our significant others. Not all of us write songs about it, but we’re all not Jordan Esker either.
The Tampa Bay songwriter has two new singles—“Technically Married” and “Do Better”—which he wrote on the same day in early 2018 during a rough patch in his relationship.
“But we just got married so it felt fitting to put these out and put it behind us,” Esker told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay about the pop tunes he’ll play as part of a Thursday night concert at St. Petersburg’s Hideaway Cafe (which is having its last show on Saturday).
He tapped friends to help record the songs in the empty house he and his now-wife were moving out of, and has plans to spend this solo set “telling stories about all of the songs I’ve written about my wife since I fell for her in high school 15 years ago.”
