Pale Gold makes loud music for sad times, and the Tampa emo band is supported by a pair of local favorites (Vic Alvarez’s latest project, Critical Hits, and Rillian, a new band made up of longtime players in the scene) on Saturday for this no-cover show.

Turn on Pale Gold’s 2018 album, High Strung, to hear three fresh-faced dudes play punk that’s riddled with the kind of angst that sticks to the insides of a 40-year-old lifelong Robert Smith idolator.

Critical Hits w/Rilian/Pale Gold. Sat. March 7, 9 p.m. No cover. The Bends, St. Petersburg. local.cltampa.com
