Tampa-based Symphonic Distribution has landed on Billboard magazine’s Indie Power Players list for the second year in a row.
After being listed on it in 2018, Symphonic CEO Jorge Brea returned to the “Distributors” portion of the list alongside executives from Tunecore, Redeye Worldwide, Ingrooves, CD Baby and more.
“Independence is the ability to be reactive [and] pivot,” Brea, 34, told the magazine. In recent months, Symphonic has expanded to Nashville and even Colombia.
“We’ve been able to grow 35% year over year for the past five years,” he added.
Brea founded the company when he was 21 and now connects clients from every genre to streaming platforms. Symphonic’s roster includes a host of Bay area locals, and the company also hosts Vibes of the Bay, one of the best local music showcases.
John Prine, songwriter and label head for Oh Boy Records, also appears on the list, along with representatives from other indie imprints like Matador and Beggars Group.
