Texas hardcore bands Juicebox and Substance play Ybor Heights brewery concert on Easter

The cover art on Substance’s 2022 EP, Frightening World, is a zoomed-in crop of the bloodied mustache and mouth of hard-living French-Canadian heavyweight boxer Jack Delaney. The record will leave you torn up, too.

Hardcore in sound, but unafraid to be vulnerable in subject matter, vocalist Derek Rathbun recently told Vice that the songs are him letting out rage. “They're all about real people and experiences that I've encountered while being around all the ignorant machismo that one tends to encounter,” Rathbun added.

Fellow Texas hardcore band Juicebox is on this brewery show along with local slam and hardcore acts Playground Drug Dealer and Jit.

Tickets to see Substance and other plays Deviant Libation, in Tampa on Sunday, March 31 will be available at the door for $10.
