This Saturday in live music: Hallucination Before Christmas, Jingle Ball with 5 Seconds of Summer and others, Pink Talking Fish + more

A look at concerts happening this Sat., Dec. 19

Lots happening on this last Saturday before the Christmas holiday. Check out the breakdown below.

Hallucination Before Christmas Every year for the past 21, Hallucination Recordings throws a big ol’ holiday blowout that mashes up Halloween and Christmas traditions, adds lasers and video-mapped structures, and pumps hours of pulsing and pounding electronic sounds all throughout. Three rooms, each with its own unique theme, feature more than 20 electronic music makers, among them, DJs Kennedy Jones, Monk and Bunny (of Rabbit in the Moon fame), Sluggo, Nerd Rage, Mark Starr and Sage Armstrong, and gogo dancers, performance artists and roving entertainers mingle amid the decked-out denizen. Hallucination Before Christmas is also among the area’s largest single-day food drives, and all attendees are asked to bring a donation for Feeding America Tampa Bay. (The Ritz Ybor, Ybor City)

The Set It Off Xmas Benefit Bash with Infinity on High, UNRB The Tampa pop-punk outfit with national touring credit and label representation in Equal Vision Records – Set It Off – stages its last show of the year and donates all the proceeds from ticket sales to the Tarpon Springs Leadership and Music Conservatory. (Orpheum, Ybor City)

Pink Talking Fish It’s a tribute band that presents a fusion of Pink Floyd, The Talking Heads and Phish – ya dig? Two-set shows segue in and out of songs by all three – “In the Flesh,” “Tweezer” “Crosseyed and Painless,” “Dogs,” “Punch You in the Eye” and “Psycho Killer” are all in the quartet repertoire, among scores of others. (State Theatre, St. Petersburg)

VelcroStraps with SKOK and others An exhibition of alternative hip hop sounds that encompasses VelcroStraps, who pits deliberate flows and faster aerobatic spits against warped, skewed and ominous lo-fi production that moves at a sluggish pace; and SKOK aka Brandon K. Skok, a 21-year-old rapper from upstate New York who just dropped his debut Voiceless EP. Mike Mass, gat & cris, Vern Sr., Charles Burns and DJ Wally Clark. (New World Brewery, Ybor City)

Ella Jet Birthday Jam The folk rock singer, songwriter and guitar-and-keys juggling songstress who started working the local music scene at the ripe age of 10 celebrates adulthood – her 18th birthday – at this very special bash. Ella Jet performs a set, as do some of her musical friends – The Ries Brothers, Kayla Engberg and Natalie DePergola. (Hideaway Café & Recording Studio, St. Petersburg)

Jingle Ball with 5 Seconds of Summer, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas & many more Now a twinkling and chiming seasonal tradition, this touring showcase (presented by 93.3 FLZ as part of the annual “iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour”) assembles an all-star line-up of pop talent amid a festive holiday atmosphere. Leading the 2015 charge is Aussie charmers 5 Seconds of Summer, Disney Channel-spawned pop songbird Demi Lovato, post-Brothers pop rocker Nick Jonas, electro-house sensation Zedd, and Swedish “Habits” belter Tove Lo. Also performing: Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, R. City, Hailee Steinfeld, Conrad Sewell, Alessia Cara and DNCE. (Amalie Arena, Tampa)
