Thrill to Roxy Music

DVD set documents art rockers

The Thrill of It All
ROXY MUSIC

(Virgin/EMI)

This double-DVD set expertly documents art-rock heroes Roxy Music performing on stage and for TV audiences from 1972 to 1982. Mostly containing concert clips, the collection runs in chronological order and includes selections from '72 to '76 (yes, there's Brian Eno working his mad-scientist switchboard of sonic gadgetry), '79 to '80, and four numbers from a '82 gig in Frejus, France. There's also Top of the Pops and Old Grey Whistle Test performances, as well as promo videos that aired on a nascent MTV. Sharp sound and visuals make this mandatory viewing for Roxy Music enthusiasts — although commentary from the musicians would have made for a nice bonus. 4 stars
