Gabe Echazabal

Today in Creative Loafing rock history; on this date in 2017, Gabe Echazabal submitted his first "Today in rock history" post to Creative Loafing Tampa.

His daily examinations of the rock and roll calendar had been to surprise to any of his Facebook followers, and his deep love — or obsession — with all facets of music was well-known among his former Vinyl Fever co-workers and friends. His byline had actually been on CL longer than my own.

During a content brainstorming session, then managing online editor Scott Harrell suggested we ask Echazabal to submit the historical factoids to CL. A no-brainer, but would Gabe share the fruits of his labor with us on daily basis?

Oh hell yeah, and then some. For the last year, from Monday to Friday, Gabe's entries on rock and roll history have landed in my inbox in between the hours of 5 and 6 a..m. The guy is a machine, and my understanding of rock acts that I would have certainly overlooked is so much better for it.

I can't be the only person who feels this way, and I just wanted to take a quick second to let Gabe know how much his contributions have enhanced my daily routine. So if you're reading this, head over to Facebook or Twitter and let Gabe know how much his energy and enthusiasm means to you, because it has surely meant a lot to us.
