A few noteworthy shows are happening in Ybor City and Clearwater on this last night in February. Take a look at the breakdown for Mon., Feb. 29 below.
Adult Books with Jensen Serf Co., Wet Nurse In “Casual Wrecks,” the droning ennui of Nick Winfrey’s vocals and the guitar-jangly, fast-paced tempo of the single belie its overall forlorn tone of failed love. This balance of blasé, wry and poignant is representative of Adult Books, an LA trio with a loose, lo-fi post-punk and garage style that sees a full-length debut in Running from the Blows, which drops this Friday via Lolipop and Burger Records. The Beach Boys An American music mainstay since their formation in 1960s, hugely influential surf pop band the Beach Boys show no signs of slowing down; the current tour spans a half-year with stops everywhere from Oklahoma to Japan. Although Brian Wilson is back on the solo bandwagon, original members Mike Love and Bruce Johnston maintain the BB’s iconic sun-soaked sound with a line-up of fine touring players. Whether you’re a “shut up and play the hits”-type fan seeking an evening of good vibrations, or a studied back-catalog connoisseur hoping for something more obscure, the group’s two-hour sets never disappoint.
