✔️  Grails w/Jason Loewenstein/Infinite Third Grails makes hard, instrumental rock for fans of philosophy, world travel and the sounds of psychedelia meeting prog-rock and dub in a fancy concert hall. Thinking music? You bet. Too pretentious to bang your head around to? No way, bro. St. Pete soundsmith Billy Mays III (aka Infinite Third) kicks off this show which also features Sebadoh and The Fiery Furnaces member Jason Loewenstein. (Fubar, St. Petersburg) INFO

Forceps w/Ominous Hymn Brazilian heavy metal comes to north Tampa care of Rio de Janeiro’s Forceps, which plasters the sunny topics of misanthropy, decadence, disease and death onto its own special blend of grindcore, tech-metal and thrash. (Brass Mug, Tampa) INFO

✔️  Have Gun Will Travel/BlackDots/Radarmen Vélo Champ — a recently relocated Seminole Heights bicycle shop — is getting into the concert game with its Bike Shop Music Series kickoff show, which’ll tap local Americana favorites Have Gun, Will Travel to help welcome an actually travelling outfit (Colorado folk-punk quartet BlackDots) to the ‘hood. Enter through the alley between Chelsea and Emma, and make sure you have $8 for the cover, too. (Vélo Champ, Tampa) INFO

✔️  Big Pre-Fest in Little Ybor w/Against Me!/Rainer Maria/Smoking Popes/Beach Slang/You Blew It!/more Believe it: Big Pre-Fest is turning five. That not-so-little punk rock festival that takes over Ybor as autumn begins to blow into Cigar City is back once again. The two-day shindig gives Bay area fans who can’t travel to Gainesville a chance to let loose, and it lets the diehards mix it up with friends while catching sets they’d never be able to see when shit really hits the fan in Alachua County. More than 70 bands playing five different venues gives us plenty to chase down here though. Read our interview with Against Me!’s James Bowman (playing two sets at Orpheum) here.
