Tonight in live music; Dashboard Confessional's sold out show, Baby Rasta y Gringo in Carrollwood and more

Tommy Emmanuel kicks off his two night stand in Clearwater, too.

Dashboard Confessional Your hair. It’s been everywhere for a decade and a half now. Still, there is not one Dashboard Confessional fan that’s grown wearing of the emo power ballad Dashboard frontman Chris Carrabba made famous on solo acoustic tours so many years ago. The tattooed heartthrob just released a surprise covers EP where he takes on Bieber, Julien Baker, Sorority Noise and The 1975, but expect him and the band to pull from every angle of the their six-piece discography. “Every song in the catalog has a chance to be played,” they said in a press release, “along with the possibility of new unreleased tracks such as ‘Heart.Beat.Here,’” which is a throwback to the sound Dashboard Confessional made famous on albums like Swiss Army Romance and The Places You Have Come To Fear the Most. (The Ritz, Ybor City) SOLD OUT

Tommy Emmanuel w/Andy McKee Tommy Emmanuel traveled a long way to get to Clearwater, so the Grammy nominated Australian guitarist is camping out for a two night stand where he'll explore the depths of a career he kicked off more than half a century ago. Expect a lot of jokes and jaw dropping fingerstyle at this one. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater) INFO Editor's note: we listed a different Capitol Theatre show in our print edition and regret the error.

Baby Rasta y Gringo It’s been a solid six months since Wilmer Alicea (aka Baby Rasta) was hospitalized after stomach and back pain forced him out of a round of New York City promotion. Well, the little guy is alright now, and he’ll be in Carrollwood with Gringo (aka Samuel Gerena) for a night of reggaeton in support of their 2015 LP, Los Cotizados, which is still a radio staple in their hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
