Diarrhea Planet

Diarrhea Planet with Left and Right, Florida Night Heat It may come as a surprise, but Diarrhea Planet isn’t made up of third graders. The six-piece armada of potty-mouthed punk rockers hail from Nashville, their thrashy tunes clocking in at two-minutes-or-less, adrenaline-fueled jolts sure to get you moving (or at least convulsing) … and if you ask real nice, they might just play a song by The Boss. Diarrhea Planet shares the stage with mellower punk/garage-rock comrades, Left & Right. Tampa’s own Florida Night Heat eases you into the evening with instrumental psych-rock jams. (Crowbar, Ybor City) —Adam Hardy

Matt Pond PA with Young Buffalo Though his band has embodied the term by default for more than a decade, it’s always seemed like not enough to call the singer-songwriter’s milieu “chamber pop” — sophisticated and melancholy, sure, but he’s moved through many personal phases over the course of his career, from mopey, Cure-reminiscent textures to more complex, clever and upbeat odes. He’s got a new crowdfunded album, The State of Gold, on the near horizon (it's out June 30), but Pond and his players are also using this tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of LP Several Arrows Later — considered by many to be his finest work — by playing it in its entirety. Support comes from Young Buffalo, an intriguing Oxford, Miss. quintet with a quirky, organic sound that balances roots and indie influences. (Local 662, St. Petersburg) —Scott Harrell
