Another three-pack of noteworthy shows to follow last night's intriguing trio. Check out what's happening this Wed., Oct. 7 below.

In The Valley Below with The Infinite Eights, Ella Jet, Smokestack Lightning After appearing on the 97X Backyard BBQ bill in May and getting play on the alternative radio station with teeth hurting-sweet fruit-and-sensuality single “Peaches,” In the Valley Below returns to serve a headline-length dose of cuts off 2014 debut The Belt. The LA duo – made up of guitarist Jeffrey Jacob and bassist Angela Gail – crafts an atmospheric yet sometimes driving mix of synth rock, dreamy shoegaze and art pop, their masculine-feminine harmonies imbued with just the right amount of tender, touching yearning.  (Crowbar, Ybor City)

Ani DiFranco A prolific alt folk rock songstress with 18 LPs to her credit (the last was 2014’s Allergic to Water), and an inexhaustibly devoted fanbase drawn to her grassroots activism, fearless candor, strength, wit and poetic yet very confessional and soul-baring way of expressing herself in her lyrics (favorite verse from “Heartbreak Even”: “You try not to let your emotions show/but it ain't a balloon you can just let go/it's an ice cream cone dripping in the sun/sticky hands, sticky arms, sticky situation”), while also touching on modern social issues (sexism, poverty, reproductive rights, homophobia, et. al.). She’s also an effervescent presence who throws a rousing live show. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater)

MisterWives with Cruisr, Waters Mandy Lee originally put together MisterWives to play ‘80s covers for her own birthday party. Eventually, she and her musician friends adopted the punny moniker and started writing original material in 2013, indietronic pop with disco accents powered by the soaring, cotton candy saccharine vocals of Lee. The outfit gained traction last year when their song “Vagabond” was tapped for the opening theme of MTV drama, Finding Carter. This tour falls behind the release of debut full-length Our Own House. (State Theatre, Saint Petersburg)
