KONGOS

A rather diverse lineup of live music on this Tue., Feb. 3, Check it out below.

KONGOS with Colony House, Sir Sly Purveyors of alt rock chart topper “Come with Me Now” KONGOS hit Ybor on tour behind their debut studio album, last year’s Lunatic. The South African-spawned band of brothers combine dark lyrics, squealing guitar riffs and surprising sonic accoutrements on accordion, all of it built around heavy-driving rhythms that’ll have you bobbing your head with every kick of the bass drum. (The Ritz Ybor, Ybor City) –Seth Peterson

Johnny Rawls A bluesman with more than four decades of music-making behind him, upwards of 15 albums to his credit and a style calling on the deeply soulful sounds of the 1960s. Johnny Rawls’ most recent outing, 2013’s Remembering O. V., pays homage to one of his most significant influencers, late soul-blues singer O.V. Wright. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa) –Leilani Polk

Jon Autry & the Naval Avionics with Soapbox Soliloquy, UFO Sex Scene Stages of Waking combines ambient pop marked by delicate sparkling acoustic guitar melodies, swells of synths and hushed tuneful vocals with more straightforward power-grungy pop songs driven by rock tempos. Follow-up LP beautifully broken is more spirited and incorporates extra guitars, electro-industrial textures, and darker lyrical imaginings. Both albums are by Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Jon Autry, who supports the latter release (out last year) with his full band in tow. (The Fuzz Factory, Gulfport) –LP
