✔️  La La Land Concert La La Land may have been mixed up with Moonlight at the Oscars this year, but there will be no confusion about the cult-like fanbase that’s fortified itself around a score composed by Justin Hurwitz (who David Warner interviews here). The music comes alive at the hands of an orchestra while the film plays on screen at the Mahaffey for this one, and while Hurwitz won’t be there in the flesh, his music is plenty warm enough to make this an exciting event. MewithoutYou w/Pianos Become the Teeth/Slow Mass It’s been 15 years since the spoken melodies and weird song structures on mewithoutyou’s breakout LP, [A --> B] Life, made an impact on fans, and the Philly art-rock outfit plans to throw it all the way back to those days at this show where it’ll play cuts from the album for all the diehards.
