Tonight in live music; Louie Louie plays The Hub and a Monkee comes to Busch Gardens

Louie Louie will also be on WMNF 88.5 FM this afternoon.

Louie Louie w/T3ddy Ruxpin/DJ Rebelle Friends and strangers normally come together in perfect harmony at The Hub, so it’s apropos that the storied downtown Tampa dive would host a set from Louie Louie. The Philadelphia garage pop quartet arrive in support of a brand new full length (Friend Of A Stranger, released last week via Born Losers Records), which boasts 13 tracks of sugary guitar pop that you can both play for mom and on the jukebox as you barrel towards a Monday night bender. If you don’t want to stay up late on a school night, then maybe give community radio station WMNF a call since Flee will be hosting the band on his afternoon program starting at 2:30 p.m EST. Tune in to 88.5 FM (or stream it via wmnf.org). Listen to Friend below. (The Hub, Tampa) INFO

Real Music Series w/Micky Dolenz Hey hey, it’s the drummer for the Monkees! Micky D. did not set out to be a travelling musician (“"I did absolutely start with this attitude of, 'I'm being hired to play the part of the wacky rock 'n' roll drummer,'" he recently told the Chicago Tribune), but hot damn here we are talking about the 71 year old coming to play a show more than half a century after that make believe band debuted on television. The concerts are free with park admission, and more information is available here. (Busch Gardens, Tampa) INFO
