Tonight in live music; Mike Love's Beach Boys, Copeland, Palisades and more

Beach Boys Christmas!

Copeland w/Rae Cassidy Well over a decade has passed since Copeland first romanticized the city streets of Lakeland, Florida on their debut LP, Beneath Medicine Tree, and while frontman Aaron Marsh and his band have released many albums since (including their latest, Ixora, released in 2014) fans have remained devoted to the effort and are likely expecting to hear some of it at this rare tour stop (you would’ve had to drive to the Polk Theatre last April if you wanted to catch the band play a full set). Read our interview with Marsh here. (Orpheum, Ybor City) INFO

The Beach Boys In a year when Brian Wilson brought the Beach Boys’ iconic Pet Sounds album to live at Mahaffey Theater, it’s admittedly tough to get equally pumped on an appearance by a Mike Love and Bruce Johnson led version of the group. The kicker, which could go either way depending on your palette, is that Love & co. will be working through holiday classics for this one where tickets are bound to move quickly anyway.
