Becky Warren You saw us talk about her Ybor City show yesterday, and we wouldn’t miss an opportunity to mention Becky Warren twice as the Nashville songwriter takes to the Ale & the Witch in support of a slept on 2016 LP, War Surplus, which earned her praise on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and a spot opening for Indigo Girls. You could read the critic reviews or you could just take Amy Ray’s word for it. “This record is really from the gut,” the Indigo Girl. “I think it needs to be heard.” This is your chance to experience for free. Listen to the full album at the bottom of this post. (The Ale & the Witch, St. Petersburg) INFO

Phil Vassar You’ve experienced Phil Vassar before — it just wasn’t him singing. The 52 year old songwriter has penned songs for Alan Jackson (“Right On The Money”), Jo Dee Messina (“Bye Bye”) and Tim McGraw (“For A Little While”), but doesn’t mind being behind the scenes. He’ll be front and center at this listening room gig for a new Ybor venue starting to get the engine running. (The Attic, Ybor City) INFO

Lettuce w/Jaw Gems Funk bands are always trying to push envelope of their genre, but many just wilt under the pressure. Not Lettuce, though. They New York-based outfit have been at it for the better part of two decades now, and they arrive at Jannus landing in support of a pretty new LP Mt. Crushmore, released in November) of hip hop, rock and soul infused boogie. The boys (including opener Jaw gems) are coming off a sold out weekend at Suwannee (see above), so expect them to come with the 🔥🔥🔥 tonight. (Jannus Live, St. Petersburg) INFO

Jask w/Marley We list a lot of DJ nights in Music Week, and while no one is actually on stage playing original music, there is certainly an art to selecting the right songs for a room. Jask and Marley will be cherry picking the best in “acid jazz, deep house and everything in between” at this one. (Anise Global Gastrobar, Tampa) INFO
