It's a fine night of live music on this first night in April. Take a look at the breakdown of highlights below, then peep what's coming up this weekend.

Polyenso Album Release Party
In “Let It Go” – the latest single off Polyenso’s just-released Pure in the Plastic – breathy high-toned vocals wheel over vibrant layers of keyboard melodies and synth pulses that are studded with pitch-shifted vocal splices and plucked electric guitar, the overall atmosphere quiet ambient indietronica, while “Not My Real Life” has a more groove-jazz feel with vibes, percs, horns, a funky rubber-band bassline and slinky rhythmic pulse highlighted by bedroom falsetto vocals. Before Polyenso plays these and select other cuts for thousands at the Shakey Knees Music Fest in Atlanta this May (Jane’s Addiction headlines), the St. Pete-based indie trio (Brennan Taulbee, Denny Agosto and Alexander Schultz) throw a proper all-ages release party at their own performance space tonight. Admission is $12. (Paper Crane, St. Petersburg)

Samantha Fish Rarely do album titles perfectly capture the essence of their namesake. Yet Wild Heart – the 2015 outing from Kansas native Samantha Fish – does just that. Set opener “Road Runner” is a breakup ode that refuses to feel sorry for itself. But no sooner has the last angry note rung out than Fish completely switches gears for the next track, “Place to Fall,” an unabashedly vulnerable plea for love. These starkly contrasting vibes set the stage for the rest of her album, which reveals just how wild and moody her heart truly is. Fish’s third LP was recorded in three different studios spanning Louisiana and Mississippi – an influence that can clearly be heard both in the grit and twang of her guitar. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa) –Leanne Castro

African Children’s Choir A concert of dance and song – children's odes, traditional spirituals and gospel favorites by the youthful members of this choir supported by Music for Life, a nonprofit humanitarian and relief organization that facilitates education, development, care and relief programs for the choir. Admission is free, though free will offerings are accepted and appreciated. (Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, Clearwater)

Alexander & the Grapes Album Release Party w/Emperor X/Jackson Davis & the Jackettes More info here. (Crowbar, Ybor City)

Tribute to Louis Armstrong: James Suggs and Friends He’s paid tribute to Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Dizzy Gillespie with the finest of ease. Now, St. Pete trumpet sensation James Suggs honors another of his major influences, the great Satchmo. He’ll perform classics like “What a Wonderful World,” “A Kiss to Build a Dream On,” “Mack the Knife” and others as accompanied by guitarist Nate Najar, bassist John Lamb and drummer Mark Feinman, along with appearances by Marius Dicpectris (trombone, vocals), Bryan Hughes (vocals, clarinet, drums) and Allan Vache (clarinet). (Palladium Theater, St. Petersburg)

The Police & Sting Tribute Three super cool local songstresses – Rebekah Pulley, Iris Calling and Lisa Noe – play acoustic sets that feature their own distinctive takes on two or three songs by the artists in question along with some original material. (Hideaway Café & Recording Studio, St. Petersburg)
