Tonight in live music: Rock the Park, Pompeya

Concerts this Thurs., Oct. 2.

A good Thursday for music, and both of the shows you should be checking out are free, located within blocks of each other, and can both be enjoyed, one right after the other...

Rock the Park with Luxury Mane, Hydrophonics, Shawn Kyle The air is finally starting to hint at fall, and while I can’t make any guarantees about how it will feel outside on this particular first Thursday in October, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for pristine conditions for the next edition of Rock the Park, headed up by BOTB-certified Best Rock Band Luxury Mane as they continue to play behind a strong sophomore LP, Gold Standard. As usual, admission is free, food options abound, and children and pets are more than welcome. 6:30-9:30 p.m., Curtis Hixon Park, Tampa.

Pompeya A Moscow band that plies particularly warm and breezy electro-pop with disco and New Wave overtones, all funky-bumping basslines and sharp-snapping or flute-hooting midi-exotic keytones under breathy-cooing vocals. The quartet followed-up last year’s Tropical with the Night EP this June, and returns to the U.S. — and The Hub — in support. 9:30 p.m., The Hub, downtown Tampa, free admission.
