Jamaica-born, England-raised Steel Pulse vocalist/frontman David Hinds has dreadlocks as thick as my wrists and as long as my arms, supposedly a measure of his wisdom, maturity and knowledge, reflecting his age (58) as well as the time he’s spent as a Rasta (nearly four decades, right around the time he formed Steel Pulse in 1975). Just goes to show you that his dedication to Rastafarianism ain’t no joke, and his socio-political posi-vibing music is further indication that he not only practices but preaches Rasta beliefs. The British roots reggae band Bob Marley once claimed was one of his favorites hasn’t recorded much new material since 2004’s African Holocaust but continue to tour on the strength of their esteemed status in reggae music. 7 p.m., State Theatre, St. Petersburg, $30.
