Tonight in live music; Toh Kay, Monday night jazz at USF

Songwriter night, eh?

Toh Kay Tomas Kalnoky is a little strange to spell, so it makes sense that the Streetlight Manifesto frontman would shorten it to Toh Kay for his solo outings. Fans expecting the lively ska and punk Kalnoky might want to check those desires when they get to Straz’s Jaeb Theater since stuff from Kalnoky’s 2011 LP, Streetlight Lullabies completely undresses selections from the band’s normally rambunctious catalog in lieu of quiet, contemplative reworks. The solo project has been a lot of scrutiny since Streetlight Manifesto’s label, Victory Records, has accused the band of not fulfilling their recording contract, so it’ll be interesting to see if that topic gets discussed at this intimate gig.
