UNRB EP Release Show The Bay area’s electric uke-and-four-horn-fueled ska-punk favorites have a big summer planned. This Hump Day date celebrates the completion of a brand new EP, Collateral Jammage (album cover above), and marks the last local date before the launch of a U.S. tour that finds UNRB warming the stage for Dirty Heads during Milwaukee’s giant 11-day citywide music event, Summerfest. In addition to hawking copies of the new EP, the band offers samples of a brand new UNRBeer by Overflow Brewing. Resinated and No Need open. (Local 662, St. Petersburg)
Chronixx and Zincfence Redemption Chronixx is the pseudonym of Jamaican reggae purveyor Jamar Rolando McNaughton Jr., who’s only 22 years old and already altered his own career track when he went from producer to vocalist with a rapid chant-toast style, and started recording original material in 2010, eventually assembling a crew of instrumentalists that have come to be known as Zincfence Redemption. The sextet backs him on brassy-bright, up-tempo, dancehall-hued tracks like “Rastaman Wheel Out” (which was released with its own critically-acclaimed short film) and fast-swaying anti-war ode “Here Comes Trouble.” Chronixx also has the distinction of collaborating with Major Lazer and Walshy Fire on the well-regarded Start a Fire mixtape in 2012; debut EP, The Dread & Terrible Project dropped last year.
