It’s been about 10 days since Tampa Bay saw Magic City Hippies at Gasparilla Music Festival, but Robby Hunter’s Miami-based indie-pop and funk outfit is already on its way back.

The band will open for Indiana jam-scene giant Umphrey’s McGee, which is bringing its summer tour to St. Petersburg’s Jannus Live on August 15. The show is part of a five-month trek that also visits Miami Beach (August 16 at Jackie Gleason Theater) and St. Augustine (August 17 at The Amp).

The appearance is Umphrey’s McGee’s first in the area since 2018 when the band played WhigFest (and unveiled the Dark Brush Imperial Stout brewed in partnership with Ybor City’s Rock Brothers Brewing).

Tickets for the concert go on sale Friday, March 22 at 11 a.m. EDT and will cost fans $30-$35. Tickets are available in-store at Daddy Kool Records an online via daddykool.com.
