Women’s History Month is now, and this weekend, Valerie Gillespie—one of Tampa Bay’s best saxophonists regardless of gender—leads a band that features of the area’s brightest young percussionists, Meaghan Lock, playing alongside pianist Judi Glover, flautist Lindsay Arenas and singer Rose Bilal. Gillespie just sat in with the Florida Orchestra for the ensemble’s “Out Of This World” concert, so it’ll be nice to see her as bandleader on Sunday.

Women of Jazz: Valerie Gillespie. Sun. March 8, 7 p.m. $20-$40. Side Door Cabaret at Palladium Theater, St. Petersburg.
